The Best Beaches on Anglesey (Ynys Mon)
The beaches on Anglesey (Ynys Mon) are some of the most picturesque in Wales. There is something for everyone. There are beaches where you can play sport or alternatively quiet beaches where you will find peace and solitude. Llandwyn Beach, Newborough is long and sandy and is backed by dunes. It boasts spectacular views of Snowdonia National Park and the Lleyn Peninsular. It is one of the loveliest beaches on the Isle of Anglesey.
Church Bay Beach is a great place for collecting pebbles. A nearby lobster restaurant is particularly recommended. Church Bay gets its name from the Llanrhuddlad Church which can be seen from the sea.
Red Wharf Bay is a delightful area with plenty of amenities including a café and a pub. It has two beaches with one being reached through the caravan park. The main beach is sandy and is sheltered by the hills.
Llanddona Beach is a long sandy beach located at the eastern end of Red Wharf Bay. The beach is a good location for sunbathing, walking and paddling. Facilities found here include toilets, a café and shop.
Penmon has an award winning beach and the Anglesey Coastal Path runs along its shores. There are many places of interest to visit from here including ancient monuments and lighthouses.
Trearddur Bay, on Holy Island is a long sandy beach suitable for families and those wishing to sail, canoe, dive or water ski.
